Bluebirds and Canaries settle for a point apiece

Haverfordwest County had to settle for a draw against a Caernarfon Town outfit who battled to the final whistle for a deserved point on a wet afternoon at the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium.
The last time these two teams met it finished in a draw, the Bluebirds remain third in the table, whilst the Canaries are one place below in fourth, five points behind Tony Pennock's team with just two games of the season left to play.
Dan Hawkins had an early sight at goal as his shot flew over the bar, at the other end Ryan Sears’ low drive flew wide.
Corey Shephard’s free kick didn’t trouble Canaries’ goalkeeper Ben Hughes, also Adam Davies’ low shot drew a good save from Zac Jones as it skidded off the damp surface.
Shephard let one fly from distance which Hughes gathered comfortably as it remained goalless at half time.
Tony Pennock’s Bluebirds came close to oepneing the scoring as a goalbound header was cleared off the line before Shephard’s shot was blocked.
The hosts broke the deadlock in the 53
rd minute as Ben Ahmun headered home Jacob Owain’s corner, for the striker’s eleventh goal of the season.
However, the lead was shot lived as withing a minute the Canaries squared matters as Louis Lloyd made no mistake from the spot.
Shephard tried another shot from distance but once again the midfielder could not find the target, near the end of the game Greg Walter’s low short was saved by Hughes as both sides had to be content with a draw.
